We are proud to share that Bayan Galal has been awarded the 2026 Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans, a highly competitive and prestigious award supporting outstanding immigrants and children of immigrants pursuing graduate education. Bayan will use this fellowship to continue her medical training at the University of Pennsylvania.
Bayan’s work spans clinical care, public health research, and health systems design, with a focus on improving access and continuity of care for Middle Eastern and African diasporas. Her research and leadership have included collaborations with national ministries of health, the World Health Organization, and international NGOs, with publications in The Lancet and JAMA Network Open.
At Penn, she has led initiatives to expand care for underserved communities, including directing a student-run free clinic and founding a health navigation program supported by the Projects for Progress Award.
Congratulations, Bayan!
